Dr. Thomas Schöpke

Personal statement

After many years of work at a university level (postdoctoral degree in pharmaceutical biology; lecturing; internships; research into the isolation and structural analysis of natural materials) I was appointed Director of Quality Control and Analytical Development at a company specializing in phytopharmaceuticals. I joined the YES team in 2007. At YES I have been able to achieve my goal of uniting practical experience, theoretical knowledge, customer service and perfect teamwork. I especially value the scope for continuous personal development on the basis of the enormous knowledge and skills of my colleagues.

1986–1988 Scholarship holder and doctoral student in the study group of Prof. Dr. Karl Hiller at the Institute of Pharmacy, Humboldt University, Berlin
1988 Awarded the degree “Dr. rer. nat.” at Humboldt University, Berlin
1988–1996 Research associate/research assistant at the Institute of Pharmacy, Humboldt University, Berlin; during this time several research visits to Austria and Japan
1996 Postdoctoral degree in pharmaceutical biology
1996 Authorised to teach pharmaceutical biology; academic title “Privat-Dozent” (lecturer)
1996–2001 Senior research associate at the Institute of Pharmacy, Ernst Moritz Arndt University, Greifswald
2001–2006 Employed by Schaper & Brümmer GmbH & Co. KG, Salzgitter-Ringelheim; Director of the Quality Control Laboratory; Director of R&D Services (responsible for analytical development)
2007 Director of Quality Control and Deputy Qualified Person pursuant to the German Medicinal Products Law (AMG) at Wagener & Co. GmbH, Lengerich (Westf.)

  • Regular lecturing at Ernst Moritz Arndt University, Greifswald (basic principles of the systematics and taxonomy of viruses, eubacteria, fungi, brown algae, red algae and seed plants); author of the online publication “Botanik für Pharmazeuten” (phytology for pharmacists)
